Some minor expansion/contraction sounds may occur during heating and
cooling – this is normal.
Your kettle is equipped with a self-resetting boil-dry protector: If the kettle is
accidentally switched on with less than the minimum level of water, the boil-dry
protector will operate to safely cut-off the power. For continued use, switch the
kettle to “OFF” position and allow the kettle and control system to cool down
before re-use.
CLEANING YOUR KETTLE
1. Switch kettle to “OFF” position, unplug from electrical outlet and allow the entire
unit to cool completely before cleaning. Do not immerse the kettle, base, cord,
plugs or other electric parts in water or other liquid.
2. The exterior of the kettle can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
3. The water filter can be removed for cleaning, but should be put back in place
before next use. To remove filter, grab tab with finger and thumb, pull filter
slightly towards the pour spout and lift out. To replace filter, slide back into
place.
4. Decalcify the Kettle periodically. See the “Decalcifying Your Kettle” section.
DECALCIFYING YOUR KETTLE
Over time, mineral deposits build up on internal parts and effect the operation of
the appliance causing the need for your kettle to be decalcified periodically to
maintain performance. The frequency of decalcification depends on the hardness
of your water and how often you use the kettle. Indications that decalcifying is
necessary are:
o Increased noise during production
o
Excessive steaming
o
Longer heating times
If usage is regular, decalcifying should be carried out as follows:
o With soft water, decalcify once per year
o With medium water, decalcify every quarter year
o With hard water, decalcify once a month
We recommend the use of vinegar for decalcifying.
1. Fill kettle to the MAX level mark using ½ white household vinegar and ½ water.
2. Plug unit into electrical outlet, switch to “ON” position and allow the kettle to fully
heat and shut off automatically. Dispose of “vinegar” when complete.
3. Follow the same step as above except using clear cool water to rinse any
remaining traces of the vinegar from the system. Rinse twice using clean cool
water each time.
